L’opera Ausel II Oro rappresenta una sintesi matura della ricerca di Paolo Campagnolo, artista romano la cui poetica si fonda su una rilettura contemporanea di tecniche e materiali tradizionali. Il formato imponente (170 x 140 cm) e la scelta dei materiali — tela di cotone, foglia d’oro, agenti ossidanti, colore acrilico e vernice — collocano il lavoro in una dimensione sospesa tra pittura e scultura, in cui il supporto diventa esso stesso protagonista.
L’oro, elemento simbolico di purezza, sacralità e potere, è qui sottoposto a processi ossidativi che ne incrinano la perfezione, introducendo una dialettica tra splendore e degrado. The imposing format (170 x 140 cm) and the choice of materials—cotton canvas, gold leaf, oxidizing agents, acrylic paint, and varnish—place the work in a suspended dimension between painting and sculpture, where the support itself becomes a protagonist.
Gold, a symbolic element of purity, sacredness, and power, is here subjected to oxidative processes that fracture its perfection, introducing a dialectic between splendor and decay.
